The Last Few Months

Each situation and circumstance has its pros. Here are mine.

The one thing I always do is read. There were a few weeks when I wasn’t reading anything but headlines about COVID-19, but ever since it seems to gotten under control in Canada, I have read a lot of books.   ;D

I am having a really hard time understanding how burning down and vandalizing buildings, cars, businesses and statues is going to help Black Lives Matter. Every time I see a news report of the level of destruction in Canada I get pissed off, but when I see what is happening in the States, I am glad I am a Canadian who lives in Canada. I will take being pissed off, over fearing for my life, my livelihood and any opportunity costs associated with what is happening south of our border.

Now that the protests with the unprecedented levels of destruction have been going on for months, I really do not want to live in North America full-time. I mean it. I want to live somewhere where I don’t have to work my life around protests, pink paint, and super pissed off people. When there was talk of a Black Lives Matter protest scheduled for a weekend in Toronto, stores were completely bordered up by Wednesday. Police cars lined the side-streets and three helicopters were in the air watching and waiting for any reason to notify the police if they were needed. A paddy-wagon was also parked on a side-street just in case. Since I don’t want to live like that, or well, this, I am doing everything in my power to move myself forward. I hope you are too.

With Toronto still being in Stage Two, I don’t have any real distractions. I am, like a lot of people, saving money. I am also not going to be keeping the economy going anytime soon either. I can’t. People still aren’t physically distancing or wearing their mask because I guess the rules don’t apply to them. Instead of getting sick, I am going to stay home, or as close to it as possible. Which has given me more time to, as I like to put it, get things done.

It always amazes me at how we think of things without really thinking of anything. Every couple of days I come with a new way to make things easier, better. It might take 10-40 minutes or up to two and half hours yet it always happens.

This whole being in lockdown and mask wearing has just made me hate shopping for anything even more meaning that I am saving huge amounts of time.( Just for the record I rarely, barely shop online.) This is partly because I can’t stand standing in line or wearing a mask. I put that thing on at the last second and take it off the second I can. At least I wear one though.

That’s it for today. Stay safe, wear a mask if you can, always physically distance and wash your hands.
