Shari Lapena is a New York Times bestselling author of four books and I highly recommend her latest novel, Someone We Know. Here is what the dust jacket says,
Maybe you don’t know your neighbors as well as you thought you did—–
“This is a very difficult letter to write. I hope you will not hate us too much….My son broke into your home recently while you were out.”
In a quiet, leafy suburb in upstate New York, a teenager has been sneaking into houses—and into the owner’s computers as well—learning their secrets, and maybe sharing some of them, too.
Who is he and what might he have uncovered? After two anonymous letters are received, whispers start to circulate, and suspicion mounts. And when a woman down the street is found murdered, the tension reaches the breaking point. Who killed her? Who knows more than they’re telling? And how far will all these very nice people go to protect their own secrets?
In this neighborhood, it’s not just the husbands and wives who play games. Here everyone in the family has something to hide…
You never really know what people are capable of.
No one does. And that is the scary thing about people. In my experience, there are a growing number of people who are desperate to hold on to or enhance their lives at the expense of others. And just like the characters in, Shari Lapena’s, Someone We Know, they go to great lengths to do so. Truth may be stranger than fiction, but lately fiction is really good.
I loved this book. With so many twists and turns, the characters stuck with me. I was thinking about them every second I was not reading. Not only could I not put this book down, one of my guy friends couldn’t either. He also could not put down Shari Lapena’s other bestselling book, The Couple Next Door, when I lent him my copy.
Shari Lapena is a brilliant international bestselling author who just so happens to live in Toronto, Ontario.
