Everyone has a reputation. Mine is that I have a mind of my own and I speak it. I don’t let anyone bully me into anything and I am led by logic. I also live on the saying of, I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees. I also don’t live in a great part of Toronto. So yes, even parts of cities have reputations.
Over the years the area has gotten better. For the most part I feel safe walking around at all times of the day or night. Actually I feel safer living here than I did living in Entertainment District of King West. The streets may have been safer because it was and still is considered to be a better part of Toronto yet the building wasn’t. Like at all. Just goes to show you that things are not always as they seem. Anyway….
Toronto has a reputation of being Hollywood North, Silicon Valley North and the Financial Hub of Canada. It takes a lot of people to keep those three machines running at full tilt. That is one of the reasons Toronto is the most expensive city to rent a one bedroom apartment in all of Canada. With housing costs constantly rising, homelessness has reached record levels. There is always someone sleeping outside, even on the coldest of nights. I know because I see them when I am walking home from work or a #6walk.
Walking to and from work an even the coldest days is bearable. It is the people I have worked with that have made me really consider how often I want to work them though. Let’s face it, there are always going to be those co-workers who will do as little as possible for the same pay. I don’t know about you but I work for my employer, not my co-worker because they know they can get away with doing little to nothing. If management allows it, that is up to them. My job as a human being is to take care of myself.
Everyone, everything and every place has a reputation. What are you known for?
